Local media report that DICON-D7G has produced close to 1,000 units of the upgraded DG-103 assault rifle within two months of starting operations at its Kaduna manufacturing complex.

The rifle is a Nigerian-licensed version of the Kalashnikov AK-103, using the 7.62×39 mm M43 cartridge and capable of a 600-round-per-minute cyclic rate, a muzzle velocity of more than 700 m/s (2,297 ft/s), and accurate engagement out to 500 meters (1,640 ft).

DICON-D7G expects to manufacture around 60 million rounds of ammunition annually, and has begun work on drones and anti-drone technologies equipped with early-warning systems to support combat units.

Chennar highlighted the initiative as a key achievement in Nigeria’s revitalized focus on indigenous weapons development. The DICON-D7G partnership—uniting the state-run Defence Industries Corporation and D7G Company Limited—aims to expand domestic production capacity and enhance national defense resilience.
