The Netherlands has placed a $627 million order with Raytheon for a Patriot air and missile defense system, covering key components such as radars, launchers, and command-and-control infrastructure. The agreement, concluded within months, follows an earlier $529 million Patriot acquisition finalized in January 2025.

This procurement is aimed at restoring operational capability after the Netherlands transferred Patriot assets to Ukraine, including three launchers and a radar unit. Deliveries are scheduled over the next few years, with the systems set to be deployed under the Defence Ground-Based Air Defence Command.

The Dutch government fast-tracked the deal to secure production availability, as delays in booking could have postponed delivery timelines to 2033. Global demand for Patriot systems has increased significantly due to their effectiveness in Ukraine against cruise and tactical ballistic missiles, as well as rising tensions in the Middle East.

Manufactured by Raytheon with key components supplied in partnership with Lockheed Martin, the Patriot system combines radar, command systems, launchers, and interceptor missiles into an integrated air defense network. It is regarded as a combat-proven solution capable of defending against advanced cruise missiles, tactical ballistic threats, and a wide range of aerial targets.
