LIG Nex1 has partnered with Palantir Technologies to advance the development of integrated air defense solutions and unmanned systems tailored for the UAE, as reported by The Korean Times.

The agreement was formalized at Palantir’s Palo Alto headquarters with senior executives in attendance, although details on project scope, timelines, and financial terms remain undisclosed.

Under the partnership, LIG Nex1 will leverage its capabilities in air defense and unmanned technologies, while Palantir will supply its data analytics and integration platforms to enable seamless connectivity between sensors, platforms, and command systems.

Regional Security Context
The collaboration reflects growing security concerns across the Gulf, as tensions involving Iran, the US, and Israel continue to escalate.

Iran has conducted strikes on both military and civilian infrastructure associated with US presence, including key facilities such as airports, ports, and energy assets. UAE officials recently reported explosions and the activation of air defense alerts in parts of the country.

To counter these threats, Abu Dhabi is enhancing its air and missile defense systems and strengthening partnerships with allies, notably the US and South Korea. This includes the deployment of the Cheongung-II surface-to-air missile system, which has reportedly been used successfully in interceptions outside South Korea for the first time.

Meanwhile, US support remains ongoing. Earlier this month, Raytheon was awarded a $183.7 million contract under the foreign military sales program to deliver additional Patriot system components and support services to the UAE.
