Engineers from Mindanao State University in the Philippines are developing an innovative naval prototype: a “kamikaze drone” engineered to resemble a civilian boat.
The prototype, known as the Philippine Autonomous Littoral Interdiction Drone (Palid), made its debut appearance during the Philippine Navy’s Self Reliance Defense Posture (SRDP) summit held in Manila.

This unmanned surface vessel (USV) can carry up to 650 kilograms (1,433 pounds) and travel at speeds reaching 40 knots (74 km/h or 46 mph), making it suitable for fast, low-profile maritime operations.
