Saipem, an engineering firm based in Italy, has created an underwater drone designed to enhance the Italian Navy’s future mine countermeasure capabilities. The Hydrone-D is a state-of-the-art hybrid autonomous underwater vehicle (HUAV) capable of remote operation beyond 600 meters (1,969 feet). Outfitted with side-scan sonar equipment and up to four explosive charges, it can locate and neutralize hidden naval mines effectively.
