European defense firms Fincantieri and TKMS have agreed to cooperate on supplying submarine capabilities to the Philippine Navy. As part of the deal, Fincantieri will propose the U212 Near Future Submarine under the Horizon III defense plan. Co-developed with Germany’s TKMS, the submarine boasts stealth features and air-independent propulsion, building upon the proven U212A design.
