Hanwha Systems has unveiled its first AESA radar designed for large-scale production to equip the Republic of Korea Air Force’s KF-21 combat aircraft.
The launch event at the company’s Yongin, Gyeonggi, test center underscores Seoul’s commitment to developing high-end avionics for its domestically built, next-generation fighter.
Under an existing government agreement, as many as 40 AESA radars will be delivered by 2028 for installation on the future KF-21 fleet from Korea Aerospace Industries.
Opened in 2024, Hanwha’s Yongin site includes a Near-Field Chamber capable of simultaneously evaluating four airborne radars and measuring critical performance indicators of AESA antenna arrays.
