Elbit Systems has secured a $750 million contract from Greece for the supply of Precise & Universal Launching System (PULS) artillery rocket systems. The four-year deal includes launch platforms and a full range of munitions, covering training rounds, precision-guided rockets of varying ranges, and loitering munitions, along with a 10-year support package.

While the number of systems has not been officially confirmed, Greece’s parliament had previously approved the purchase of 36 launchers. The agreement also involves collaboration with Greek industry, including technology transfer and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The acquisition forms part of Greece’s larger $32 billion defense modernization strategy, designed to strengthen military capabilities over the next decade. Deployment of the PULS systems is expected to reinforce defenses in strategically important areas such as Evros and the Eastern Aegean islands facing Turkey.

PULS is a flexible rocket artillery system featuring a universal launcher capable of firing both guided and unguided munitions with ranges extending up to 300 kilometers. Each launcher carries two canisters that can accommodate different payloads, including 122mm Accular rockets (35 km range), 160mm rockets (40 km), 306mm Extra rockets (150 km), and Predator Hawk missiles with a reach of up to 300 kilometers.

The system’s integrated navigation and mission control capabilities allow for rapid targeting, either on the move or from fixed positions, with firing readiness achieved in under a minute. It can engage multiple targets with high precision, maintaining a circular error probability of under 5 meters. Additionally, it supports loitering munitions deployment at ranges of up to 100 kilometers, adding to its operational versatility.

PULS is designed for integration on both wheeled and tracked platforms, helping streamline maintenance and training requirements. It is also a central component of Greece’s “Achilles Shield” layered air defense system, which incorporates Israeli platforms such as SPYDER, Barak MX, and David’s Sling.
