German firm SWARM Biotactics is turning live cockroaches into miniature surveillance agents by equipping them with tiny, high-tech backpacks.
These cyborg insects are designed for ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) operations in environments where drones falter—like confined spaces or GPS-denied zones.
The backpack allows for guided movement, encrypted comms, and real-time data gathering, effectively transforming them into bio-robotic scouts.
