French Army Introduces PROTEUS Standard 1 Anti-Drone Gun Mount
The French Army has presented the PROTEUS Standard 1, a 20mm automatic weapon system designed as a modernized countermeasure against drones and precision-guided munitions.
The system is an upgraded version of the AA53 cannon, a World War II-era weapon originally intended for light vehicle engagement and short-range air defense.
Chambered in 20×139mm, the cannon delivers a rate of fire of 720 rounds per minute and has remained a widely used battlefield weapon despite the arrival of more advanced systems.
