Element US Space & Defense has teamed up with Leonardo DRS to support electromagnetic testing for the US Navy.
The collaboration focuses on meeting evaluation requirements for systems under development within the Navy’s medium-voltage capability programs. A key component of the effort is the installation of a semi-anechoic electromagnetic interference (EMI) chamber at Leonardo’s facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
Designed to simulate real-world electromagnetic environments, the chamber blocks external interference while containing internal signals. Its specialized RF-absorbing walls minimize reflections, enabling accurate and controlled testing conditions.
The system will be housed in Leonardo’s high-power laboratory, combining the company’s expertise in naval power systems with Element’s technical testing capabilities. According to both firms, the in-house EMI solution will accelerate development cycles, reduce delivery timelines, and support future testing requirements. The facility is expected to become operational in 2026.
