European NATO-operated CV90 infantry fighting vehicles are poised for a survivability upgrade as Elbit Systems delivers its Iron Fist active protection system under new contracts from BAE Systems Hägglunds.
The CV90 manufacturer has signed multiple agreements with Elbit totaling $150 million for the delivery and integration of the Iron Fist APS, strengthening the vehicles’ defenses against modern battlefield threats.
Iron Fist is a compact, modular hard-kill protection solution that provides all-around coverage against anti-armor weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, anti-tank guided missiles, and hostile drones. Its adaptable design enables integration on a variety of armored platforms.
Elbit recently showcased the system’s performance during live-fire trials in Europe, successfully defeating more than a dozen 120mm APFSDS rounds—an outcome the company highlighted as a notable technical milestone.
In parallel, the Iron Fist APS is also being fielded on the US Army’s Bradley IFVs, underscoring growing international adoption of the system.
