Poland will host joint counter-drone training with Ukrainian specialists, expanding their defense cooperation in response to repeated Russian drone incursions along Poland’s borders.

According to the Polish Defense Ministry, advanced talks are underway to deepen collaboration on drone and counter-drone systems. Training will be conducted entirely on Polish soil, clarifying earlier remarks from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggesting possible Polish deployments inside Ukraine.

The announcement follows a string of Russian drone incidents, including Poland’s downing of at least three “hostile objects” on September 10. Warsaw has since warned that Europe risks sliding into “open conflict” with Moscow if such provocations persist.

The United Nations Security Council has also discussed the wider threat posed by Russian drone incursions, which could pull NATO allies directly into confrontation.

Meanwhile, Poland is modernizing its drone program with a 200-million-zloty ($55 million) investment, including the establishment of a Drone Center under the Air Force Institute of Technology to oversee testing, development, and deployment of unmanned systems.
