The Australian government has allocated more than A$300 million ($199.8 million) to implement a new Future Air Mission Training System (F-AMTS) to enhance and modernise mission aircrew training for the Royal Australian Air Force.

Developed in collaboration with CAE Australia, the programme will expand training throughput by up to 70 percent by integrating advanced simulators, refreshed training courses, and immersive learning approaches.

The system will combine classroom instruction, high-fidelity simulation, synthetic training networks, and live flying activities to mirror the complexity of modern operational environments.

F-AMTS will support foundational and specialist training for personnel operating platforms such as the MC-55A Peregrine signals intelligence aircraft and the MQ-4C Triton high-altitude unmanned aircraft.

CAE noted that the capability will be available to a range of mission roles, including Airborne Electronics Analysts, Air Battle Managers, Air Mobility Officers, Weapon Systems Officers, and Electronic Warfare Officers.

The contract includes new infrastructure for the Air Mission Training School at RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria, where system rollout is planned to commence in 2026.

The investment is expected to create up to 140 jobs during system acquisition, along with 50 ongoing roles to support long-term sustainment.

Spanning a 10-year period, the agreement will see F-AMTS systems delivered and installed with support from Australian companies such as Nova Systems, Adacel, DXC Technology, Milskil, MMCLD, Airflite, and Seeing Machines.
