American Rheinmetall has secured a $31-million contract to strengthen frontline repair capabilities for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) used by US and Ukrainian forces.
The 18-month program, awarded by the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, will focus on developing and testing advanced damage assessment and rapid repair techniques by establishing forward-deployed maintenance facilities.
A prototype Rapid Damage Assessment and Repair Team will be formed to validate the concept using the Bradley platform, employing state-of-the-art tools, streamlined processes, and a responsive supply network.
This initiative aims to close the gap between battlefield damage and depot-level repairs, ensuring faster combat readiness. Once complete, the project will provide a scalable model for field repair sites capable of operating in challenging or high-risk environments.
The program is expected to reduce downtime, improve readiness, and enhance resilience across critical defense assets.
