Aventra has secured $3 million to convert unguided bombs into AI-guided weapons with a reach of up to 3,000 miles (4,800 km).
The Virginia-based startup is building a modular glide kit named the Piranha that adds wings and guidance modules to existing ordnance, turning them into inexpensive precision strike munitions.
Designed for high-altitude deployment from balloons at about 80,000 feet (24,000 meters), the system exploits stratospheric winds to dramatically extend its range.
