A new tool under evaluation by the US Army aims to improve troops’ awareness of electromagnetic activity by detecting and analyzing signals across the spectrum—giving them better visibility of threats and their own emissions.
Named the Spectrum Situational Awareness System (S2AS), the system monitors signal disruptions, command post transmissions, and ISR-related dangers.
It can accurately locate the source of unusual electromagnetic signals, regardless of whether they come from U.S. forces, allied units, or hostile actors.
