The United States has approved a $510 million arms sale to Israel, covering bomb guidance kits and associated support, following Israel’s extensive use of munitions during its recent military operations against Iran.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the sale will strengthen Israel’s ability to counter current and emerging threats, safeguarding its borders, critical infrastructure, and civilian areas.
The sale, approved by the US State Department, now awaits final congressional approval.
The announcement comes in the aftermath of Israel’s large-scale air offensive on June 13, which targeted Iranian nuclear sites, key scientists, and top military leaders. While Tehran maintains its nuclear program is for civilian use, the US and other nations believe it is intended for nuclear weapons development.
Former President Donald Trump had pursued diplomatic efforts to renegotiate the nuclear deal he withdrew from in 2018 but ultimately opted for military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
