Germany has committed to purchasing Joint Strike Missiles (JSM) for its F-35 aircraft in a Norwegian deal valued at 6.5 billion kroner ($642 million).
The Bundestag approved the acquisition on June 4, placing Germany among JSM users like Norway, the US, Australia, and Japan.
The contract is projected to be signed by mid-2025.
Under the agreement, the Norwegian government will buy the missiles from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and deliver them to Germany.
The deal follows the format used in the past for Germany’s Naval Strike Missile (NSM) Block 1A procurement.
It also supports continued collaboration between the two nations on the supersonic Tyrfing missile project.
