General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has been awarded a $988 million contract by the US Navy to upgrade its digital command and control systems that link vessels, aircraft, and shore facilities.

The agreement is part of the Ship and Air C5ISR Systems Support program, featuring a one-year base contract with four one-year options and a six-month extension.

Under this deal, GDIT will modernize, integrate, and sustain C5ISR systems across all surface combatants, including aircraft carriers, guided missile ships, and Coast Guard platforms, as well as manned and unmanned aircraft and shore installations. Work covers engineering, procurement, logistics, and installation to maintain operational readiness.

The contract complements previous modernization projects. In April 2024, Lockheed Martin supplied advanced electronics for MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. Leidos secured $248 million in October 2024 for unmanned system support at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions began a Phase 1 sustainment program for AN/SPY-1 radars in October 2025.
