In Lorient, France, Naval Group successfully launched the HS Formion, the third Kimon-class frigate being built for the Hellenic Navy. The event marked the vessel’s first entry into the water and the start of its final construction phase before it is officially delivered to Greek authorities.
The ship has been equipped with a steel mast and a Panoramic Sensors and Intelligence Module, which together will enhance onboard command, control, and maritime surveillance functions. With its sophisticated sensor suite, the frigate will offer full-spectrum awareness, vital for both independent and fleet operations. This launch continues Naval Group’s steady progress in strengthening Greece’s naval power.
