Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Safran Power Units have extended their strategic partnership for the propulsion of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM), building on years of successful collaboration. The renewed agreement includes a significant order for hundreds of TR40 turbojet engines.

Safran Power Units has consistently supplied the TR40 engines that power the NSM, contributing to its operational success within NATO and the European Union. With the increasing global demand for the missile, the two companies are now stepping up coordination to support accelerated production schedules.

This major engine order secures long-term work for Safran Power Units and offers supply chain stability, enabling investments in new capacity and supporting critical sub-suppliers in scaling up their operations.

The NSM, first deployed by the Royal Norwegian Navy in 2012, is known for its exceptional anti-ship strike capability and high survivability against modern air defenses. It has since been selected by key international partners, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, Romania, Australia, Malaysia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia, and Denmark.
