The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has officially commissioned its fourth and final Awaji-class minesweeper, JS N?mi (MSO-307), during a ceremony in Tsurumi-ki, Yokohama. The vessel was delivered by Japan Marine United Corporation, which began construction in 2021 at its Kanagawa shipyard. Named after N?mi Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, this is the second Japanese naval platform to carry the name, following a Mikura-class escort ship commissioned in 1944.
