Anduril Industries has officially delivered the first tranche of its Altius loitering munitions to Taiwan, fulfilling a key milestone just six months after finalizing a foreign military sales agreement in early 2024.
The rapid turnaround not only underscores growing defense alignment between Washington and Taipei but also marks a strategic step in Anduril’s Indo-Pacific expansion.
The successful transfer was attributed to close collaboration between the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense, US defense officials, and industry partners — showcasing what the company called a “model of accelerated delivery.”
Deepening Presence: Local Office and Strategic AI Partnership
In conjunction with the delivery, Anduril Taiwan — a new regional office — has been launched to manage local engineering, logistics, and program implementation.
This permanent presence reinforces the firm’s long-term strategic investment in Taiwan’s defense ecosystem.
Anduril is also strengthening ties with NCSIST, Taiwan’s premier defense R&D institute, through a partnership focused on AI-enabled command-and-control systems and unmanned technologies.
The collaboration has already yielded joint demonstrations featuring Lattice AI, with live-fire exercises scheduled for this month and a joint showcase planned at a September defense expo.
The Altius Drone: Precision, Persistence, and Autonomy
Designed for the modern battlefield, the Altius series delivers a blend of autonomous strike capabilities, real-time intelligence, and mission flexibility.
Depending on the variant, Altius can fly up to 273 miles (440 km), reach speeds of 115 mph (185 km/h), and sustain operations up to 15,000 feet.
Its 4+ hour hover time and modular payload options make it ideal for missions where stealth, persistence, and precision are critical — especially in high-threat environments.
