Hypersonic missiles and aircraft developed in the US could soon feature 3D-printed dark ceramics engineered to endure extreme environments. Scientists at the Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI) are investigating the application of additive manufacturing to produce these resilient materials, which are particularly suited for hypersonic systems due to their toughness and resistance to wear. Utilizing digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing, the team is reportedly able to fabricate dark ceramics with precision in both form and surface detail.
