The U.S. Army is advancing its Synthetic Training Environment Live Training Systems (STE LTS) by incorporating haptics technology to close the gap between virtual simulations and real combat scenarios.

Haptics involves wearable devices that deliver vibrations and physical forces, allowing soldiers to feel sensations such as touch, recoil, and impact—enhancing realism without the dangers of live-fire exercises.

By integrating haptic feedback into STE LTS, the Army aims to provide sensations like weapon recoil, resistance, and bullet strikes. Future upgrades may also include simulated explosion effects to further deepen the immersive experience.
