Japan has publicly revealed the long-range variant of its Type 12 missile launcher for the first time at the JGSDF’s largest live-fire event.
The Fuji Firepower Exercise in Shizuoka Prefecture was attended by thousands, including students and families, as part of recruitment outreach.
Mounted on an 8×8 high-mobility wheeled chassis, the launcher is designed to enhance Japan’s ability to conduct precision counterstrikes.
Following its production launch in 2023, the Ministry of Defense plans to deploy the system across seven missile regiments by 2025.
