Components from retired Royal Air Force Tornado jets have been recycled by grinding them down and using 3D printing to create new parts for the UK’s next-generation military aircraft. High-titanium content parts, such as jet engine compressor blades, were selected for this process. After cleaning and processing, Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) produced 3D-printed compressor blades and a nose cone, which were then installed on an Orpheus small engine concept.
