Dstl has adopted a rugged, next-generation underwater robot to help defend the UK’s vital subsea infrastructure from emerging sabotage threats.
The robot, a commercially available ROV, is designed to detect and eliminate dangers to underwater cables, pipelines, and other maritime assets.
It can also handle legacy explosives on the seafloor, reducing hazards for naval teams and vessels.
The robot comes with improved onboard systems that let operators precisely locate threats and safely neutralize them using remotely delivered charges.
