On December 4, 2024, the U.S. Army awarded Boeing a Lot 3 contract worth $135 million (€127.7 million) for the procurement of three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook heavy-lift helicopters. This contract follows the Army’s decision in February 2024 to transition the CH-47F Block II program to full-rate production. To date, Boeing is under contract to deliver nine of the 465 helicopters planned for the Army’s fleet. Funding for these three additional aircraft has already been approved by Congress as part of the upcoming production lot. Boeing also received a prior contract to acquire long-lead components. The first CH-47F Block II unit was delivered in June 2024, with the second following in September—highlighting continued progress in enhancing the Army’s heavy-lift modernization efforts.
