The UK government is investing over £1 billion ($1.3 billion) to launch a new offensive cyber unit and build an AI-driven targeting network to enhance digital warfare capabilities. The Cyber and Electromagnetic Command will spearhead the nation’s offensive cyber strategies, including disrupting enemy systems, executing information operations, and reinforcing broader military objectives. Additionally, the unit will play a key role in defending the UK armed forces’ digital assets from cyber threats. The move comes as the Ministry of Defence reports over 90,000 cyberattacks in the past two years, largely attributed to state-backed actors from Russia and China.
