French firm Exail and Spanish company Grafinta will provide the UmiX-40 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for Airbus’ SIRTAP tactical drone. Tailored for compact platforms, the UmiX-40 delivers precise navigation and stabilization using in-house fiber-optic gyroscopes and vibrating beam accelerometers. It maintains high performance in environments without access to global navigation satellite systems, offering low latency, minimal noise, high bandwidth, and accurate 3D rotational tracking. With its plug-and-play design, the system ensures reliable navigation for extended ISR missions from takeoff to landing, even under degraded conditions.
