Swedish company Lumibird Photonics has signed a contract with Saab to provide 57 VIDAR laser rangefinders for the Royal Danish Navy’s frigates.
Scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026, the rangefinders will be integrated into Saab’s CEROS naval fire control systems, enhancing the frigates’ ability to track threats and accurately engage targets with naval guns and missile launchers. The VIDAR system enables precise, real-time distance measurements, critical for countering fast-moving threats like drones and surface vessels in complex scenarios.
