Talks are underway between Saudi Arabia and Leonardo to expand cooperation by localizing helicopter component manufacturing. The collaboration would also involve establishing maintenance and repair capabilities, and producing spare parts for engines, drones, and navigation systems. Leonardo has served Saudi Arabia for more than forty years, supplying fighter jets, avionics, surveillance, naval, and space systems. This push to localize helicopter production aligns with Vision 2030’s aim to diversify the economy and lessen oil dependency by growing local industries.
