QinetiQ, in partnership with the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), recently showcased Australia’s first scalable high-power laser optical chain prototype. The demonstration follows a 2023 contract awarded to the UK-based defense firm to jointly develop a prototype defensive laser system with versatile deployment capabilities. QinetiQ stated the milestone brings the country closer to advancing indigenous directed energy solutions to combat existing and future uncrewed threats.
