The Norwegian Armed Forces have tapped Bertel O. Steen Defence & Security for the supply of next-gen sniper scopes in a contract valued at 92 million kroner ($9 million). The scopes include the Thermis Mk2, a thermal imaging system designed for all-weather and all-day usage, ideal for spotting and targeting both personnel and equipment.

These advanced optics will be installed on M107A1 anti-materiel rifles, set to be delivered to Norway from US-based Barrett Firearms later this year. The Thermis Mk2, developed by Greece’s Theon International, will be shipped to Oslo in September 2025 for final integration. This move reflects Norway’s commitment to enhancing long-range engagement and reconnaissance capabilities for its ground forces.
