Airbus has been awarded a contract to deliver two additional A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft to NATO, with deliveries scheduled for 2028 and 2029.
The new order will increase NATO’s joint refueling and transport fleet to a total of 12 aircraft.
The purchase coincides with Sweden and Denmark officially joining NATO’s Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) program, which is managed by the alliance’s Support and Procurement Agency and enables participating nations to share heavy airlift capabilities. With their inclusion, the MMF now counts eight member countries with access to the fleet.
Airbus confirmed that the new A330s will be built and modified at its facilities in Toulouse, France, and Getafe, Spain.
