Saab and Maxar Intelligence have signed a strategic deal to co-create next-gen battlespace solutions, focusing on space-powered drone tech.

The partnership integrates Maxar’s satellite tools and 3D maps into Saab’s combat system architecture.

Their goal is to boost drone performance in hostile environments, especially where GPS may be jammed or unreliable.

This builds upon prior tests of Saab’s Raptor software, already developed with Maxar’s support.

Raptor enables GPS-free flight using vision-based tech, paired with Maxar’s large-scale terrain datasets.

This setup allows drones to calculate aerial position and ground targets by comparing onboard camera feeds with Maxar’s worldwide terrain model.
