During the Paris Air Show 2025 in Le Bourget, Leonardo and Baykar Technologies announced the official launch of LBA Systems, a joint venture focused on advancing unmanned aerial technologies. This announcement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2025 in Rome. The joint venture will be equally owned by both companies (50% each) and will be headquartered in Italy, where its operational activities will also be based.
The collaboration leverages Baykar’s broad experience in unmanned aerial systems design and Leonardo’s expertise in electronics, mission systems, Manned-Unmanned Teaming, and swarming capabilities. Leonardo will also support qualification and certification processes.
LBA Systems will target both European and international markets, while Leonardo and Baykar also plan to explore wider collaboration areas—ranging from commercial partnerships involving each company’s platforms to joint initiatives in emerging digital and multi-domain ecosystems.
