Leonardo has been awarded a contract to supply a Multirole Maritime Patrol aircraft, derived from the ATR 42-600 commercial platform, to the Italian Coast Guard. This order supports the Coast Guard’s initiative to modernize its airborne fleet, which currently includes three similar aircraft based on the ATR 42-200 and ATR 42-500 regional airliner models. The new plane features upgraded communications, search, and surveillance sensors that provide real-time information sharing throughout the command chain.
