Indian defense company Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace (FWDA) has introduced a new loitering munition with a 100-kilometer (62-mile) range at a defense aviation exhibition in Paris, France.
Named the FWD-LM01, the system is part of FWDA’s kamikaze drone family, featuring a delta-wing design optimized for long-range strike operations.
According to The Economic Times, the man-portable drone can be deployed in less than five minutes without the need for complex tools.
The FWD-LM01 has a 2-meter (7-foot) wingspan, weighs 6 kilograms (13 pounds) at takeoff, and offers 1.5 hours of flight endurance. It can reach altitudes of up to 17,000 feet (5,182 meters) and is capable of carrying a 2-kilogram (4-pound) explosive payload.
The system is equipped with an electro-optical infrared sensor for live reconnaissance and features AI-assisted targeting and autonomous navigation capabilities.
