Achieving dominance in modern aerial warfare with the F-35 Lightning II goes beyond speed. It requires realistic virtual training, coordinated joint exercises, and global collaboration to ensure full mission preparedness. In a recent display of international cooperation, HII personnel at Nellis U.S. Air Force Base in Nevada joined F-35 pilots from the U.S. Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force in a coalition exercise inside the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).
The JSE, held at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center Nellis (JITTC-N), is considered the U.S. Air Force’s most advanced battlespace simulation, delivering immersive and seamless synthetic training. HII plays a vital role as a prime contractor for the software’s development, integration, and ongoing support.
The exercise, hosted by the 31st Combat Training Squadron (CTS), focused on providing Royal Australian Air Force pilots with training against Red-Air contractor adversaries in F-35 simulators. Lessons learned were applied to improve mission readiness during the 29 Test Evaluation Squadron’s Simulation Capabilities Assessment the following week.
