Saab and France’s Direction générale de l’armement (DGA) signed a joint declaration of intent regarding the potential sale of Saab’s GlobalEye Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to the French armed forces, including ground equipment, training, and support services.
The declaration, made at the Paris Air Show, outlines DGA’s intent to procure two GlobalEye aircraft, with an option to buy two more.
The procurement will now proceed to a final notification step, with a contract expected to be signed in the coming months. To date, no contract has been formalized, nor has Saab received a confirmed order from France.
GlobalEye is an advanced multi-domain AEW&C system featuring both active and passive sensors capable of detecting and identifying targets over long distances in air, maritime, and land domains. It provides real-time intelligence to military forces, significantly boosting situational awareness and early threat detection.
