Paris-based defense startup Harmattan AI has secured a contract from France’s arms procurement agency (DGA) to deliver 1,000 AI-powered combat drones.

The multi-million-dollar deal will see deliveries to the French Army between October and December.

These unnamed quadcopter micro-drones will support soldier training and mission preparation, including during the Orion 2026 multinational exercise. Fully developed by Harmattan AI, each 1.8-kilogram (4-pound) drone is described as autonomous, scalable, and ready for combat.

With a range of 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) and a 40-minute flight time, the drones feature electro-optical sensors and can be optionally equipped with infrared cameras.
