Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), based in Nagpur, has taken a significant step forward in enhancing India’s drone capabilities by establishing a 1.4 km runway and dedicated testing facility for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This facility, the largest of its kind in the Indian private sector, marks a major milestone in the country’s push for self-reliance in drone technology. It will primarily support testing of the Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV currently being developed by EEL, a project initially proposed for the Indian Armed Forces. The site is expected to accelerate the UAV’s development and performance trials.
