The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has awarded BAE Systems a contract worth nearly $62 million (SEK 600 million) to supply additional BONUS precision-guided munitions to the Swedish Armed Forces.

This contract further deepens the partnership between BAE Systems Bofors and Sweden’s military, underscoring their commitment to advanced artillery solutions. The BONUS system enhances the range and precision of 155 mm cannon artillery, capable of eliminating a variety of armored threats including main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and self-propelled guns.

Designed as a fire-and-forget munition, BONUS deploys two sensor-fuzed submunitions that independently identify and destroy enemy targets across a footprint of up to 32,000 square meters. With a firing range of up to 35 kilometers from NATO L52 guns, BONUS is highly effective against both stationary and moving targets and integrates seamlessly with modern platforms like the ARCHER artillery system.

Developed in collaboration with Nexter Systems, BONUS has been adopted by several countries such as Sweden, Finland, France, Norway, and the United States, highlighting its reliability and global relevance.
