The U.S. Army has chosen BAE Systems to develop a prototype of the Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon (MDAC), a next-generation system designed to fire hypersonic projectiles. The contract, initially revealed late last year, was awarded directly to the Virginia-based firm without a competitive bidding process. The MDAC setup will include eight cannons, four advanced precision radars, and two multi-domain battle management systems.
