In partnership with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC), BAE Systems is progressing the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). This agreement supports continued advancements to enhance long-range fire capabilities, upgrade technology, and improve the artillery systems deployed by Soldiers today.
The M109-52 prototype provides a lower-risk, cost-effective technical solution that enables rapid delivery of critical combat capabilities.
Building on prior independent testing and development by both organizations, the CRADA accelerates the development of new artillery capabilities and lethality upgrades for the M109A7 Paladin.
Work will continue at Picatinny Arsenal and BAE Systems’ strong U.S.-based defense manufacturing network, which includes facilities in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
