Airbus has reported key advancements in the development of its first high-performance SIRTAP drones for the Spanish Armed Forces. Two prototypes are now in the final assembly phase at the company’s Getafe facility near Madrid and are set to begin rigorous ground and flight testing next year. The progress follows a €495 million ($539 million) contract awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Defense in 2023 for nine SIRTAP systems, each consisting of three UAVs and a ground control station.
