India’s Ministry of Defence has signed a $248-million contract with Russia’s Rosoboronexport to upgrade its T-72 Ural main battle tanks with modern 1,000-horsepower engines. The deal aims to enhance the performance of approximately 2,500 tanks currently equipped with outdated 780-horsepower engines dating back to the 1970s.
